Dollar Bank Foundation

We recognize that our success is directly related to the vitality of the communities where we operate and society at large. Dollar Bank contributes financial and human resources to a variety of organizations whose hard work enhances the lives of those they serve. To maximize the impact of our contributions, support is concentrated in our geographical regions – namely northeast Ohio, western Pennsylvania and the Hampton Roads region in Virginia.

Primary Areas of Focus

Community Reinvestment

While attentive to community reinvestment regulatory guidelines, Dollar Bank’s basic mission is fostering economic development in our communities and the resulting enhancement of the well-being of residents of those communities. Included is the improvement of quality of life for those who are most in need, particularly low-to-moderate income neighborhoods.

Community and Economic Development

Because thriving neighborhoods, growing industry, new construction and community renovation and revitalization provide jobs and contribute to an improved economic environment, Community and Economic Development is a primary focus of the Dollar Bank Foundation. We partner with community development organizations addressing issues of affordable housing, home ownership, small business development, community planning and affordable housing rehabilitation and construction.

An important key to the economic vitality of any region is an educated workforce. Commitment to organizations that support activities essential to the capacity of low- and-moderate income individuals or geographies to utilize credit or to sustain economic development, training programs that enable low- or moderate-income individuals to work is paramount.

Human Services

Dollar Bank employees have a long tradition of providing significant support to organizations striving to make life better for those in need. One of the most effective and efficient ways of addressing the social service needs of the people in Dollar Bank’s communities is through support of the United Way. Giving includes facilities that promote community services such as youth programs, homeless centers, soup kitchens, health care facilities, battered women’s centers and alcohol and drug recovery centers.

Recognizing that art and cultural organizations enrich the quality of life and preserve the heritage of the residents in a community, support is targeted to efforts that promote access to cultural opportunities for the broader audiences, the economically disadvantaged and young people. Examples include the Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival and the Cleveland International Film Festival. Such outreach efforts help these organizations reinforce their core support and develop future audiences so critical for their survival.
